The month of April is Jazz Appreciation Month in Philadelphia. All month will be packed with live concerts, art, exhibitions, discussion panels, and films that shed light on Philadelphia's jazz culture. Philadelphia was home or part-time home for many jazz legends such as Ethel Waters, Billie Holiday, Bessie Smith, John Coltrane, and Dizzy Gillespie. All that jazz is not just history, it is part of what continues to make Philly such a vibrant city today!

This year will be even easier to attend events because they will be going on all over the city. Some highlights are a series of 18 free jazz concerts and dance instructions throughout neighborhoods all over Philadelphia. These performances will feature local artists will transform libraries, train stations, community and recreation centers into jazz halls all month.
